Lauwersmeer cycle route

Cycling in the impressive and beautiful nature around the Lauwersmeer. This cycling route in the northern border region of Groningen and Friesland takes you through the unique and beautiful new landscape of the Lauwersmeer National Park. You also cycle through the Marnewaard nature reserve, past the fishing and recreational harbor of the village of Lauwersoog and through the watery Esonstad recreation park near Oostmahorn.
When hearing the name Lauwersmeer, the wilderness on the border of Groningen and Friesland, bird watchers start to salivate. In this area of water and islands, forests, reed fields and rugged grasslands, more than 100 bird species breed and tens of thousands of geese winter every year.
