Witrijt and Boswachterij De Kempen walking route

This walking route starts at Domain De Kleine Witrijt with a cup of coffee. Here you are in a large meadow landscape with wild flowers and herbs. It is named after De Witrijt, which is part of Boswachterij De Kempen through which you walk. The forest covers an area of over 2,000 hectares and consists mainly of conifers and avenues lined with American oaks. The drumming of the black woodpecker is a common sound. In the forest you will find a beautiful heathland area known as the Hapertse Heide. It is a remnant of the vast heathlands, most of which were forested at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the area you will find beautiful plants such as the marsh claw, pill fern, spotted orchid and various sedge species.
