Walking route Witrijt and De Kempen Forestry

This walking route starts at Domein THUYSGROND with a cup of coffee. Here you will find yourself in a large meadow landscape with wild flowers and herbs. It is named after De Witrijt, which is part of Boswachterij De Kempen through which you walk. The forest has an area of over 2000 ha and consists mainly of conifers and avenues that are lined with American oaks. The drumming of the black woodpecker is a frequently heard sound. In the forest you will find a beautiful heathland area known as the Hapertse Heide. It is a remnant of the vast heathlands, which were largely forested at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the area you will find beautiful plants such as the marsh claw, pillwort, spotted orchid and various sedge species.
