Tour of Leenderbos, Weerterbos and Weerterbergen

Your cycle route starts a stone's throw from De Achelse Kluis Abbey. Throw some Trappist beers in the trunk for tonight! Then you cycle straight into the Leenderbos. This nature reserve is mainly planted with Scots pines for mining, but you will also see heathland, fens, sand dunes and winding paths. After a while, the hayfields of the Soerendonks Goor loom up, a swampy nature reserve that you cycle past. In Soerendonk you get off for a cup of coffee at the beautiful café De Bout. A little later you enter the Weerterbos, one of the few really old forests in the area. A group of red deer lives here, from the watchtower you can see them beautifully, especially around dusk. You cycle back via the Weerter and Budelerbergen.
