Description

This cycling route starts at the edge of the Chaam forests. You soon cycle through the lovely Chaam to Koetshuis Anneville, originally a tenant farm from 1844. Villa Anneville was the residence of Queen Wilhelmina for a short time. She camped here with, among others, Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, the Soldier of Orange. Prince Berhard also lived here for a while. Your route takes you further through the Chaamse Bossen. The area once consisted of sand drifts, wet heath and fens planted with Scots pine. The original fens were later excavated, creating new swamp areas. Due to these developments, you can now find more animals and plants in the Chaamse Bossen, including all kinds of birds and salamanders. On the way back you will discover the Bels Lijntje.
