Description

From Berkel and Rodenrijs you can easily cycle to Bleiswijk. Here you pass the Our Lady of the Visitation Church, a characteristic Waterstaat church from 1855. From junction 36 you pass the Rottemeren, which consist of several lakes that are connected to each other. After the reclamation, the surrounding polders started to settle and peat, so that the Rottemeren are now higher than the surrounding landscape. On the other side you can see the Eendrachtsmolen, built in 1727, which drained the Eendragtspolder. You drive to the Bergsche Voorplas via the Kralingse Bos on the edge of Rotterdam. The hamlet of Oude Leede originated on two creek ridges in a peat extraction landscape. You can clearly see that the ribbon buildings are somewhat higher than the surrounding area. After getting off you can enjoy a delicious meal at Muller&Co Berkel en Rodenrijs.
