Take your E-bike to Dilsen-Stokkem and the Mechelse Heide. An extensive heathland area, lovely villages and a beautiful castle: this beautiful, varied route guarantees a wonderful day out.
Dilsen-Stokkem
The starting point of this route is Tievishoeve, a wonderful place to switch back to nature. After a cup of coffee with Limburg pie, you cycle straight through the greenery to Dilsen-Stokkem. Here you will discover Ter Motten Castle. The first owner was mentioned in 1375, but the current Baroque complex was built in 1725. It now serves as the town hall. You continue your route to Maasmechelen, on the edge of De Hoge Kempen National Park.
Mechelse Heide
Then you cross the largest heathland area in Flanders: the seven hundred hectare Mechelse Heide. There was once a primeval forest here, which was decimated by felling and grazing. What remained was a heathland area. In summer the heather blooms beautifully purple and red. At As you can view the heathland from a different perspective: from a 31-meter-high lookout tower.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
