The rich past, between mines and ponds.

This varied cycle route takes you through forests and meadows, past ponds and castles, and through the remains of a rich mining past. You start at Domein Bovy, a large walking park with old half-timbered buildings. You cycle past Circuit Zolder, once a fixed appointment on the Formula 1 calendar. Now, in addition to a motorsport circuit, it is also a hub for cycling with a BMX track and a cycling school. The route also takes you past the former mine site, where you can discover how people worked and breathed at a depth of 800m in the ZLDR Luchtfabriek. If your legs are still fresh, you can also start from here for a walk on the Zolder mine spoil heap for a phenomenal view of the surroundings. From here you continue past Vogelsanck Castle, towards the Hermitage of Loretto, an authentically restored hermitage with chapel from where you can once again enjoy a beautiful view of the ponds and Terlaemen Castle. You can end the day in style in one of the pleasant catering establishments in and around Domein Bovy.
