Description

In the municipality of Lochem is a small town that has less than 4,000 inhabitants: Gorssel. Taste the conviviality of a close-knit, small-scale community where the family grave of the founders of the publishing group Kluwer is located. When you look up the floodplains of the IJssel from Gorssel, you come to stork village't Zand. Southeast of the Gorssel you will find the Gorsselse Heide, which has served as a military shooting and training ground for decades. Since 2009, the new manager of the Marke Gorsselse Heide Foundation has conceived a plan to restore the Gorsselse Heide to its former glory. The wet heath was in danger of drying out. In the past there were extensive moors that were used by farmers in the area for various purposes, but today forests can also be seen. About a hundred years ago there were mainly pine trees, but the coniferous forest is slowly developing into a mixed deciduous forest, where birch and oak also grow. Common shrubs are the buckthorn and mountain ash. Colonies of forest red ants work hard in the sand to please their queens and alongside the drumming of the woodpeckers, several songbirds sing the highest song, while the hawk and buzzard are formidable hunters. You can park your car for free at TOP De Nieuwe Aanleg. From this tourist transfer point in Almen you cycle west to Eefde. The Boedelhof is located on the edge of this village. This old farm, which is used as a residence, dates from around 1750. The house is adorned by a high hipped roof, on which a weather vane adorns. Empire windows have been installed to the left and right of the front door and various coats of arms have been edited in the house. The oldest pieces of the farm can be seen in the use of smaller, irregular bricks. After cycling for another nine kilometers in a varied area - through meadows and fields, and along water you will come to the mill'Geertruida Cornelia\\\'. This is a relatively small and young ground sailer, which was built in 1893. The mill grinds on both wind and motor drive. The mill was completely demolished and headless for years, until it was restored from 1995 to 2000. The mill can be visited on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but you can also make an appointment for this. You have completed three quarters of the bike ride when you can enjoy a well-deserved break at the Bosrestaurant Joppe. The restaurant is located in the middle of an area where nature and culture are of paramount importance. Visiting beautiful churches in the area and traditional activities such as klootschieten are a fun pastime, but the forests with their fairytale-like fens and beautiful farmlands are also a feast for the eyes. At the cozy terrace there is a playground where the children can have fun and the kitchen brigade is ready to meet your wishes. A cup of coffee or tea, a nice fresh beer or a glass of wine tastes extra good when you also order a snack to satisfy your hunger, so that you can complete the last part of the bike ride with renewed strength.
