Follow the two banks of one of the longest rivers that makes its way through Europe to the sea. The starting point of the cycling tour is near Renkum, a town that is more than a thousand years old. When you have parked your car at Restaurant Campman, head for Doorwerth Castle. Another eight kilometers further you will see a monument that was erected in memory of the Second World War: the Monument 101st Airborne Division. Finally, you can see the only water tower in this city in Wageningen. The tower is thirty meters high and in which 130 cubic meters of water is stored, was built in 1948. Back at Restaurant Campman, you can end your day in the beautiful restaurant. Relaxing dining at the hospitable restaurant before you go home makes your day out extra special.

Boscafe De Beken is named after the estate of the same name, which is located in a very attractive location in the middle of the Renkums Beekdal nature reserve. The lunchroom is a favorite stopping place for many nature lovers, who come to walk and cycle in the beautiful surroundings. The lunch menu is small, but very tasty. We work as much as possible with fresh, healthy vegetables from our own vegetable garden. Also for parties and celebrations for up to 80 people, you've come to the right place. Doorwerth Castle is a good example of a moated castle, where the thick outer walls together with the water provide protection. The castle is ideally located: well defensible on a floodplain on the Rhine and strategically on the old main road from Arnhem to Utrecht. A great place for toll collection. Doorwerth Castle was first mentioned in 1260. The predatory practices of lord Berend van Dorenweerd were a thorn in the side of the Count of Gelre and the Bishop of Utrecht. During a siege, the then wooden castle was destroyed and set on fire.
