After an overnight stay or just a cup of coffee at Boutique Hotel Charley's, put on your walking shoes. You first walk to the Polderhuis Museum, where you will learn more about the Allied bombing that destroyed part of the sea wall and almost all of Westkapelle on October 3, 1944. This is how the Westkapelse Kreek was created, which you will walk around today. On top of the dike, first take a look at the Sherman tank, a clear reminder of the liberation. Outside the village you then walk through forest and fields along the banks of the creek that runs far inland: the remnant of the dike breach. The graves of the war victims are located at the Hoge lighthouse of Westkapelle. The lighthouse can be climbed, tickets can be obtained at the Polderhuis Museum!

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were not only used to produce flour from cereals, but also for draining polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
