Tour of Renkums Beekdal and Belmonte Estate

After a cup of coffee (with a piece of apple pie!) at Boscafé De Beken, put on your walking shoes. Before you leave, take a look at De Beken Nature Information Center. Here you will learn more about the Renkums Beekdal and the Renkumse Poort, an ecological connection zone between the Veluwe and the Rhine. You walk straight through the Renkums Beekdal to Wageningen. The area is crossed by several streams and was carved out by meltwater from land ice during the penultimate ice age. You will see wet hay meadows, springs with clean spring water and a varied forest. Near Wageningen you will discover the Belmonte Estate, now the Belmonte Arboretum botanical garden. Due to its unique location on top of a moraine, you can enjoy surprising views of the Lower Rhine and the characteristic landscape of the Betuwe.
