Just south of Enschede is a raised bog area of approximately 500 hectares: the Haaksbergerveen, which is on the list of protected areas. If you have time to spare, be sure to cycle past the bird watching screen on Gervingshoekweg. Here you can see different bird species depending on the season. You can park your car for free in the Hooge Esch Buurse car park. In a converted cowshed you can order the tastiest traditionally baked pancakes, but the Hoogsche Esch Buurse Family Restaurant is not exclusively a pancake restaurant. If you don't feel like having a pancake, you can also enjoy a delicious satay skewer or well-marinated spare ribs. Children can play around in the playground and there is always a lively, vibrant and cozy atmosphere at the Hooge Esch Buurse Family Restaurant.

At Hooge Esch Buurse Familierestaurant you get the tastiest pancakes in all of the Netherlands. In addition to many different types of pancakes, the menu also includes meat dishes such as satay or spare ribs, soups and salads. The restaurant is located in an old cowshed that has been converted into an attractive place to enjoy a snack and a drink. When the sun is shining you can sit on the terrace, while the children have fun in the playground or enjoy a homemade ice cream. At the restaurant you will also find a brewery where you can take a look every Saturday.
