Tour of Veere and Domburg from Middelburg

Your cycling route starts at Van der Valk Hotel Middelburg. Within a few centuries, Middelburg grew from a fortress into a flourishing trading city. Until the end of the 16th century it was even the largest merchant city in the then Netherlands, later the port city played an important role within the VOC. The many historic buildings in the center show how well this city fared during the Golden Age. Veere is also a beauty. There are approximately 300 houses within the city walls. At the end of the 17th century there were still 750. Veere was an important port city at the time, as you can see in Museum De Scottish Huizen. A beautiful route close to the coast, through the forests near Domburg, takes you back via Westkapelle.
