SAKSIAN CITY TOUR

From East to West along world spots
From East to West across Saxony. That is the city route of no less than 343 km. It links several long-distance routes together and forms the so-called'Germany route number 4\\' through Saxony.
The starting point is the still shared town of Görlitz. After WWII, the Neisse River became the new border with Poland. The river flows through Görlitz, dividing the city into a German and Polish part. It is one of the best preserved places in Germany with 3,500 listed buildings. Görlitz is regularly the setting for film productions.
The route passes Löbau. The'Villa Schminke\\\' in this town is considered one of the finest examples of Bauhaus architecture. In the direction of Bautzen, the route takes you along the'Saurierpark\\\'. Here the visitor comes face to face with many life-size replicas of prehistoric animals. Bautzen's medieval skyline is dominated by 23 towers, including one very leaning. This city is famous for its mustard.
Via Dresden, the Florence on the Elbe, the route continues towards the wine and porcelain town of Meissen (the grave of Anna of Saxony is located in the Albrechtsburcht), the silver town of Freiberg and Chemnitz with many sights around a rich industrial past. The end point is Crimmitschau.
