Schouwen-Duiveland is a wonderful island for a bike ride. You really get a holiday feeling here from the peace, the forests and of course: the sea. Even if you are only there for a day! During this route you will pass Burgh-Haamstede, Haamstede, Renesse and Serooskerke. The surrounding villages and polders form the green hinterland of the island. The battle against water can be found in many places. Flooded areas have now been transformed into attractive nature reserves. Some houses indicate how high the water once reached, unbelievable. Be sure to get off at the Plompetoren lookout tower on the edge of the bird-rich Plan Tureluur nature reserve. You have a beautiful view over the water all the way to Zierikzee. On the other side you see Boswachterij Westenschouwen and Burgh-Haamstede.
