Your route starts at Brasserie de Houttuin. On the Leidsevaart you cycle behind Landgoed Keukenhof. You will see many historic estates here, and a little further on you will discover Landgoed Nieuw Leeuwenhorst. This 17th century country house is located on a beach ridge near Noordwijkerhout, right next to the bulb fields. Then you drive for miles along the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen. Further on you pass through the Leyduin nature reserve, a succession of the three country estates Leyduin, Woestduin and Vinkenduin. A little later you enter Groenendaal, an ancient forest that once consisted of a number of estates. You cycle there and back on the towpath on the Oude Hillegommerbeek. Here you see a beautiful hedge, such as bulb growers used to plant as a plot separation. They are not only characteristic of the region, but also a popular breeding ground for birds.
