With this fun bike ride of approximately 45 kilometers you will explore Heidestrand Nature Reserve, the Vogelzangbos and Wijvenheide nature reserve, founded in 1958. The wetland area, which covers 160 hectares, contains many fish ponds, but the grasses of various meadows also wave magically in the wind and forests, swamp areas and heathland remnants alternate. Originally established as a bird sanctuary, two bird watching huts have been built in the area. More than 100 bird species have found their way to the Wijvenheide, including a heron colony, but the bittern, wood monkey and osprey are also notable species in the area. Around the ponds you will find tree frogs, moor frogs and gray sand bees, which are accompanied in the ponds by bitterling.
