Your route starts at Lampe in Raalte. It is quite a climb to the top of the Hellendoornse Berg, which is heavily wooded. The hill is 40 meters high and was named after the village east of the Hellendoornse Berg. The Hellendoornse Berg is located in the Sallandse Heuvelrug nature reserve, but does not officially belong to the park. The landscape of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. You also cycle through the hamlet of Schoonheten, south of Raalte. Here is a beautiful estate with the same name. The core of the manor from the seventeenth century is mentioned as early as 1382. In front of this historic house is a square, where stables and coach houses used to stand.
