Your cycling route starts at group accommodation Landgoed De Biesteuvel in the Kempen. In the heart of the Kempen you will find the Eight Beatitudes: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Knegsel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past they were called'the selligheden\\\', or'the beatitudes\\\'. Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully referred to the villages as 'the wretchedness'. Life was difficult in Brabant at the time. Now they are beautiful places. Via Steensel you drive to Grenspark de Kempen, a rugged nature reserve of wild heathland, vast forests and babbling streams. After a trip into Belgium, on your way back you will pass another of the Eight Beatitudes: Netersel.
