Most of the Somerense Heide consists of heathland cultivation and the area also focuses heavily on livestock farming. Monuments and historical sites have been marked and the areas have been made easily accessible. It is not without reason that the nature in Southeast Brabant is attracting more and more tourists.

Nature here is dominated by green forests and barren heathlands. Coniferous trees were planted in an area that mainly consisted of heathland and were given plenty of opportunity to germinate further.

The Merry Hunter is a good example of this. The remains of an extensive urn field form a well-known monument on the estate'De Vroolijke Jager\\\'. A Roman treasure and a sword in a tumulus from the Hallstatt culture have also been found nearby.

If you cycle further south, you will pass through the Weerterbos. This is one of the few truly ancient forests in the area and the trees in the area have been swaying in the wind for as long as anyone can remember.

The area used to be much wetter, but because the area was converted into grassland, the forest dried out considerably. There are several sights in the Weerterbos, such as an open-air church from the mid-seventeenth century, a lookout tower that was built on the site of a historic farm and a cross that was erected to commemorate deceased air crew from the Second World War.

When you leave the Weerterbos it is nice to take a break at Huyskamer Daatjeshoeve. Ensure that you travel safely by having your bicycle checked at Profile Meulendijks. The bicycle specialist's branch can be found at the start and end point of the route, where you can also park your car for free.
