Your cycling route starts at De Kleine Carrousel Experience Farm. Between Vorden, Laren and Lochem you will discover a picturesque, idyllic landscape: De Graafschap National Landscape. It is a beautiful small-scale area that is characterized by its fairytale views. The scenic landscape also has many estates and castles that are typical of the area. The history of Huis Ampsen dates back to 1105. The first castle and both houses on the estate were destroyed by the Spanish in 1605. You also cycle past De Wildenborch Castle. The exact year of construction is unknown, but the first mention of the house dates back to 1372. The castle was strategically located in the middle of swamps, making it an ideal shelter after raids. The estate, with an area of approximately 300 hectares, is freely accessible.
