Your route starts at Pannenkoekenboerderij Brinkzicht, in the middle of the Drentsche Aa National Landscape. A natural archaeological monument, this last remaining intact stream valley landscape in the Netherlands. There are as many as 800 different plant species - more than half of the total of 1,400 species in the Netherlands. You will also discover the Zuidlaardermeer. The Strubben Kniphorstbosch is by far the largest archaeological monument in our country. It is called 'the Randstad from prehistoric times'. Here you will find approximately sixty burial mounds and two dolmens, and there are also ancient field roads across the heath and through the woods. You cycle past a number of burial mounds from the Bronze Age. During your cycle tour you will also pass Hunebed D09 - a small and incomplete example, but still very recognizable after 5,000 years.
