Description

Your route starts at Pannenkoekenboerderij Brinkzicht, in the middle of the Drentsche Aa National Landscape. A natural archaeological monument, this last remaining intact stream valley landscape of the Netherlands. There are as many as 800 different plant species - more than half of the total of 1400 species in the Netherlands. You will also discover the Zuidlaardermeer. The Strubben Kniphorstbosch is by far the largest archaeological national monument in our country. It is called'the Randstad from prehistoric times\\\'. Here you will find about sixty burial mounds and two megalithic tombs and there are also age-old field roads over the heathland and through the woods. You will cycle along a number of burial mounds from the Bronze Age. During your bike ride you will also pass Hunebed D09 - a small and incomplete example, but still very recognizable after 5000 years.
