Tour of Schoonebeek, Dalerveen and Emmen

Your route starts at Aquamarijn on the Hondsrug, a cover sand ridge that extends from Emmen to the city of Groningen. You will explore beautiful nature reserves and villages here. The Amsterdamsche Veld takes its name from the Amsterdam investors who once purchased this area. It used to be a much larger peat area and was part of the Bourtanger swamp, but nowadays the remainder is part of the Bargerveen. In Schooneveld you will discover Middendorp Estate. It consists of four houses in total. There was already a large house here in the fifteenth century. In the current building, the cross vaults in the cellars are the visible witnesses of this 'great house'. The white plastered facade on the Vliet is the main side of the building complex. . Next to the house is a gas factory from 1867.
