Oostburg, Sluis and Cadzand-Bad

National Landscape West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is an area that mainly consists of an open polder landscape, which is interrupted by villages, towns and areas with many rows of trees. The pattern of constructed channels and dikes shows that the land was reclaimed in small steps and that the sea was gradually pushed back. Three of the oldest polder centers have irregular plots: Groede, Cadzand and Biervliet. Remnants of the old creek system are the Zwinpolder and the Passagegeul. Between the pattern of dikes and channels are remains of fortresses, forts and line dikes, which prove that battles were fought with and around the water. Groede is home to the Flemish Heritage Museum, where you can take a journey back to Grandmother's time. Here the simpler and less hectic lives of the hardworking blacksmiths, barbers and grutters are outlined.
