Tour of Badhoevedorp, Spaarndam and Haarlem

Your route starts at ParkCafé - Herdenkingspark Westgaarde. Explore part of the 135 kilometre long defence line on the Amstel, around our capital: the Defence Line of Amsterdam. The defence line never had to be in active service; the threatening effect it emanated was enough to prevent hostilities. The entire waterline, on which a total of 45 forts were built and which was constructed from 1880 to 1920, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Take a break in Haarlem, the city centre is beautiful with its many old streets and historical monuments. Along the river Spaarne you can enjoy the sun and the passing ships on many terraces. The De Hommel mill is an octagonal ground sailer from 1879. The mill can be visited when it is turning!
