From the starting point you can discover the region perfectly. Then you get on your bike to discover the castles here in Northeast Groningen. You can admire no fewer than four castles around Vriescheloo. This village was founded a long time ago as a place of residence for everyone involved in peat extraction in the area. Later Vriescheloo grew into a ribbon village. The castles were recently built by Bram Boekestijn, a former flower trader, who wanted to create a castle settlement. All four castles are used as residential homes. The Boschplaatse in Blijham was built around 1580. At the end of the route you will pass De Dansende Kater, where you can enjoy a snack and drink.
