This route leads you along the IJselmeer coast and the wooded Gaasterland in the National Landscape Southwest Friesland, one of the twenty national landscapes in the Netherlands.

De Vlijt The first place of interest on your route is windmill De Vlijt. This beautiful spider head mill was built in 1986 and therefore very young by mill standards. The size proportions have deviated due to a renovation: the mill has a larger, wider lower tower than usual and the size ratio between shaft and rods has also changed considerably. Further along the IJsselmeer coast and the idyllic Gaasterland you will also encounter beautiful flowers and plants. Finger helmet flower, wood anemone, collar anemone and wild garlic, for example.

Skating Museum In Hindelopen you will pass the First Frisian Skating Museum, where you can reminisce about the Elfstedentocht. Then you drive to the cast-iron lighthouse at the IJsselmeer: the Lighthouse of Stavoren. The tower has a height of 15.7 meters and was used to help ships reach the port of Stavoren. The building was restored in 2001, the tower was blasted and painted again. In Mirns you will find another beautiful bell tower.

A church has stood in the middle of the cemetery. It was demolished in the middle of the 18th century. A bell chair was founded in 1723. This bell chair was destroyed in the Second World War, on December 22, 1943. Then in the afternoon an American bomber B24H crashed into the cemetery with a thunderous crash, completely destroying the bell seat. The bell-seat with a hipped roof was reinstalled in 1953.
