Your route starts at De Koekenbakker. First you drive through the Velder Estate, a humid area that is connected to the Kampina nature reserve through nature development. You will soon see the Kampina forests appear on the horizon. The deeper you drive into this nature reserve, the quieter it becomes. Grab a bench and enjoy the view over the heath. You may see the herd of Icelandic horses grazing here in the distance. At junction 9 you drive a bit along the Dal van de Beerze. You cycle back via Boxtel. Here you cross the Dommeldal, after which you can take a look at Stapelen Castle. The oldest mention of this castle goes back to 1293, since 1915 it has been used as a monastery by the Assumptionists.
