Tour of Vilsteren, Lemele and Beerze

Your route starts at Bergzicht Camping and Chalet Park. From here you cycle through the beautiful Vechtdal. The Vilsteren estate owes its name to the Vilsteren family. The oldest mention linking this family to the town of Vilsteren dates from 1382. Vilsteren has been an esdorp for centuries, with the associated farms, fields, wet meadows that were cultivated along the Vecht. A special building in Ommen is Het Laer. Het Laer used to be a castle, the remains of which are still clearly visible, such as the surrounding canals and the wooded area in which the castle came into its own. The castle has had many different owners over the years. After a number of sieges, renovations and takeovers, Het Laer Estate has grown into a beautifully restored manor.
