Cycling along the banks of the Lower Rhine

This route takes you along the banks of the Lower Rhine under Rhenen, through the southeastern part of De Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. The sand ridge consists of several peaks, each with its own name. Some of them are higher than fifty meters and on a total area of approximately 23,000 hectares there are thousands of trees swaying in the wind. This makes the Utrechtse Heuvelrug the largest forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe. The mysterious depth and power of the Lower Rhine also determines the atmosphere during your cycle tour. The water can be wild, but also mysterious and soothing. Cycling along the banks, looking out over the gigantic mass of water, this ancient force of nature will stir something in many passers-by.
