Your route starts at Recreatiebedrijf De Huttert. The landscape of the Sallandse Heuvelrug was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. The ridge was once covered with heather, but now there are also forests to prevent sand drifts. The very old juniper bushes are beautiful, just like the whimsical old oaks. One of the two remaining groups of grouse in the Netherlands still lives in this area. On the Sallandse Heuvelrug it is occasionally a bit of a climb. For example, the Noetselerberg is 60 meters high, the Haarlerberg 63 meters. But the views of the beautiful surroundings are a nice reward for your effort. In atmospheric Holten you can take a look at the village church, built in 1832, with its beautiful white tower.

It is just possible that cows and horses are grazing in the meadows around you. Not a fan of camping? There are also two apartments for rent and they have a Bed & Breakfast. You can also cycle nicely here along the Regge to the Lemelerveld. After a brisk bike ride or walk you can relax in the Theeschenkerij or on the spacious terrace.
