Description

Along the Vecht you cycle past rippling water, grassy meadows and old farms. You pass two nineteenth-century polder mills: the Garstenmolen and Hoekermolen. You also pass De Nes: a meander in the Vecht the size of a small lake. There used to be an island here on which a country estate was located from 1687 to 1827. In the course of the twentieth century the island disappeared due to sand extraction. Just before Vreeland you pass the Ruitermolen, a corn mill from 1910. Then you cycle along the part of the Vecht that is rich in country estates. In Breukelen you cross the river and cycle to Kockengen for a pit stop at Abrona Kunst & Koffie. You cycle through the peat landscape to two picturesque villages: Loenersloot and Baambrugge.
