Tour of Overmarsch, Zutphen and Klarenbeek

Your route starts at Stadshotel & Proeflokaal't Oer. The IJssel originally ran south of Zutphen, but the town was threatened by the erosion of the bend. The bed was moved and thus the De Overmarsch area was created. The name refers to the wet, boggy meadows that were created. The Ravenswaarden is a quiet area around the bed of the IJssel. Here you look out over extensive meadows, fields and estates. Much has been done in nature development to increase the ecological value. The nature reserve has a lot of relief, a popular nesting area for various bird species. The pollarded willows in the area regularly house pairs of little owls. In Klarenbeek you will see the De Hoop tower mill from 1905. The mill is still used to grind grain, albeit to a limited extent.
