Southwest Veluwe has many castles, country houses and estates. Start the Landgoederenroute at one of the nodes mentioned and follow the arrows to the next node during the cycle tour. You can also start at the VVV/ANWB at Molenstraat 80 in Ede (near junction 61). There you will find many more cycling and walking routes in handy maps and attractive guides. Landgoed Kernhem is located between junctions 61 and 60, which is one of the oldest estates in the Netherlands. The monumental building dates from 1750. You can take a walk through the herb garden, along water features, a maze, the magical'blood stone\\\', stately avenues and a bat sanctuary. Near junction 60 is the'Doesburgermolen\\\'. The standard mill from 1620 still runs on windy days. The geographical Center of the Netherlands is located in the Lunterse Buurtbos, near junction 75. After junction 76 you cycle over the Wekeromse Zand, a living shifting sand with interesting transitions to lichen-rich buntgrass vegetation and heathland, surrounded by old Scots pine forest, younger coniferous forests, heathland and arable land with prehistoric fields: Celtic Fields. The Allied airborne landings took place on the Ginkelse Heide (between junctions 62 and 64) on 17 and 18 September 1944 as part of Operation Market Garden. This is commemorated annually at the Airborne monument next to the sheepfold, along the Verlengde Arnhemseweg (N224). Landgoed Hoekelum is located between Bennekom and Ede, at junction 90. The estate has a rich and long history from about 1300. The castle and moat are well preserved, as are the staff buildings, which now house a camping and cheese farm with a VEEL LUWE shop. Here you can buy dairy products and the homemade Hoekelum cheese. (C) This cycle route is offered to you by Veluws Bureau voor Toerisme. For more information about this region, visit www.develuwe.nl
