Round Reuver and Swalmen

The area between the Maas and the German border in North Limburg is wonderfully quiet and green. You will find extensive forests such as the German Brachter Wald that merge into the Municipal Forests of Swalmen, but there are also cozy villages here. High time to explore this beautiful area by bike.

The Brachter Wald
The cycling tour starts in Reuver at De Witte Stein. You can drink a delicious cup of coffee before you start your bike ride or enjoy dinner here when you're done cycling. From here you cycle to the border with Germany and you follow the edge of the Brachter Wald for a while. Until 1996 this area served as a storage depot for ammunition of the British armed forces. The area has only recently been reopened to walkers and cyclists. These quiet forests change into the Diergardtscher Wald and the Municipal Forests Swalmen.

Historic cultural village Beesel
When you have left the woods behind you, you arrive at the village of Swalmen. Then you cycle to the historical cultural village of Beesel. Beesel is a characteristic church village with monumental buildings, a cozy market square, surrounded by greenery and located on the Maas. In this village you can taste the age-old traditions, the hospitality of the people and the strong sense of community.

Vineyard Hoeve Roosendaal
Via Beesel you follow the contours of the Maas towards Reuver. You will pass Vineyard Hoeve Roozendaal. Hoeve Roozendael is located on the estate of the same name, southwest of Reuver. It is located in a quiet area, surrounded by gardens, woods and vineyards. Via Reuver you arrive again at the end point of the route: De Witte Stein.
