After a cup of coffee at B&B En Fiets-En Wandelcafé Peelvennen you get on your bike. The front garden of the farm borders the Groote Peel National Park: 4,000 hectares of ancient raised peat bog that is still as rugged as ever. Many thousands of hectares of the area have now been reclaimed for agricultural land and peat extraction, but what remains of the nature reserve is now called De Groote Peel. Stop off at Buitencentrum De Pelen along the way to find out everything about the special nature. The black-necked grebe, nightjar and bittern are just a few of the hundreds of bird species you will find there. You will also find typical raised bog plants such as peat moss, sundew and lavender heather. And then there are the rare butterflies and dragonflies!
