The beautiful rural area of the city of Groningen

Just below the city of Groningen you drive through a varied landscape of vast meadows and lakes. You will also pass through a number of villages worth seeing.

Hoogezand
From here you take the ferry to the other side. This ferry sails from April to October. from 9:00 am. You drive a bit along the beach of the Zuidlaardermeer, a beautiful spot. In the Gorecht Park you will not only see the well-known park nature, but also some beautiful works of art. In Hoogezand you drive past some monumental buildings, such as the Damkerk from 1669. You drive along a leafy road to Harkstede. You pass characteristic farms and Stel\\\'s Meuln from 1851.

Meerstad
You pass through Meerstad, a district of Groningen on the Woldmeer recreational lake. Then you drive to Middelbert and Engelbert, two old villages, each with a beautiful medieval church. Further on you drive along the Westerbroekstermadepolder. From the path you look out over open water, reed marshes and wet grasslands. You can also spot many birds there.
