Your route starts at Cafe Restaurant De Wildse Hut. Between 's-Hertogenbosch and smaller villages such as Kerkdriel, Hedel and Ammerzoden you can enjoy the banks of the river Maas. Museumgemaal Caners is located in a pumping station that was in service from 1933 to 1979. From the dike you can enjoy beautiful views over the water and the flowery floodplains. Then you cross the Maas, for a beautiful round on both sides of this mighty river. The route also takes you past Kasteel Ammersoyen, one of the best preserved moated castles in the Netherlands. The castle dates from 1026 and the original square layout is still clearly recognizable. During construction, the castle was located in or on the Maas, but in 1354 the course of the river changed.
