The Hulshorsterheide in the Leuvenumse Bos is beautiful, but the Elspeetse Heide is also a picture. Today you cycle from one area to another: which do you like best?
Elspeet Heath
Your route starts at Camping Kostverloren. Via the Belvedèrebos you drive to the rolling Elspeetse Heide, where you can enjoy beautiful views. This area is one of the few heaths that are still maintained by grazing, the sheep are inextricably linked to nature here. The shepherd walks around with the sheep every day, maybe you will run into him!
Hulshorsterheide
The Leuvenumse Bos is a varied deciduous and coniferous forest that consists of four sub-areas, each of which has its own flora and fauna. A large shifting sand plain with high sand dunes is one of them: this is the Hulshorsterheide. You also cycle a long way through the woods, pay attention because there is a lot of wildlife here; from boars to roe deer and red deer. To keep these populations healthy, wild bridges have been constructed and dead wood is left behind.
