Castles in the IJsselvallei

You will find plenty of sights in the IJsselvallei. You will pass three castles and the old city of Doesburg. You also drive a bit through the woods on the Veluwezoom.

Veluwezoom
Your route starts from the Posbank. Enjoy the view for a moment before cycling into the woods. You will see many old oaks and beech trees here. You will also pass through the starry forest of Hof ter Heide, a centuries-old estate. There is a beautiful old beech tree on top of the Carolinaberg, a special place. In the IJsselvallei you can enjoy a vast landscape, the Veluwezoom towering above everything like a beacon on the horizon.

Middachten Castle
You pass through Doesburg, a charming town full of old buildings. You pass Bingerden Estate, one of the oldest in the Netherlands. In Giesbeek you will pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1888. In Rheden it is time for a delicious pancake and coffee at Pannekoekhuis Strijland. In the picturesque De Steeg you will find two centuries-old country estates. First you pass Rhederoord, the second is the originally medieval Middachten Castle on your route.
