Castle the hair
Due to the many waterways - which can be traced back to the river Vecht - the area through which you cycle is very green. During this route you cycle for large parts through the polder and you really notice here how many ditches, canals and gullies originate from the Vecht. You cycle past Kasteel de Haar, a monumental castle in Haarzuilens. This is the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle is surrounded by large gardens and various other buildings, such as a chapel.

Around Woerden
Not far on the route is the Kockengense Molen. This mill was built in 1675 with the aim of draining the Kockengen polder. A little further you cycle through Woerden, a beautiful fortified town. Woerden was originally a city that lay along the Roman Limes and is therefore one of the six Limes nodes. The Limes is a Roman border that ran right through the Netherlands. Roman artifacts can be seen throughout the city.
