Old estates, impressive castles, historic country estates and rural landscaped gardens. That is what awaits you in the Vecht region.

Bike cafe
This route starts at Eetcafé De Herberg in Kamerik. The café was founded in 1974 by former cyclist Gerard Vianen. Subsequent owners bought the building next door and this is how an eatery was created next to the cafeteria. The Herberg is a perfect starting point for your cycling route. When you return, you can also enjoy a snack or drink on the beautiful terrace. From the cafe you leave in a northerly direction.

Castle the hair
Because of the many watercourses - which can be traced back to the river Vecht - the area through which you cycle is very green. During this route you will cycle large parts through the polder and you will really notice how many ditches, canals and channels descend from the Vecht. You cycle past Kasteel de Haar, a monumental castle in Haarzuilens. This is the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle is surrounded by large gardens and several other buildings, such as a chapel.

Around Woerden
Not far on the route is the Kockengense Molen. This mill was built in 1675 with the aim of draining the Kockengen polder. A little further you cycle through Woerden, a beautiful fortified town. Woerden was originally a city that lay along the Roman Limes and is therefore one of the six Limes junctions. The Limes is a Roman border that ran right through the Netherlands. Roman artifacts can be seen throughout the city. You end the route again at Eetcafé De Herberg in Kamerik.
