Along the Maasplassen are all kinds of authentic villages such as Thorn with the unique white houses. This route takes you through Thorn, but also through other towns full of old sights. Highly recommended for history buffs.

Authentic Howth and Thorn
From Ell you cycle through the rural Limburg landscape to Howth. You drive a bit through the village and then make a trip to Groot Buggenum Castle. This castle was first mentioned in 1419. During the Second World War, the castle was severely damaged and in the years after the war it fell into serious disrepair. In 1971, a German professor bought the castle for restoration. Today the castle is owned by the province of Limburg. From Howth you cycle on to the white village of Thorn. The white houses in this village have already inspired many a painter. In the center you can take a look at the Sint-Michaëlkerk or Stiftskerk. A little further on you cycle past the castle farm De Grote Hegge.

Limburg watermills
On this route you cycle past several water mills. In Grathem you cycle past the Grathemermolen. In Neeritter you then cycle past the Armenmolen, a fairly young mill that is only 35 years old. The last windmill on the route is the Uffelsemolen. This is the oldest ban mill in the area. The mill's history probably dates back to the 13th century, but that has never been precisely established.
