Wonderful cycling route through the Zaan region

This cycle route takes you on a journey of discovery through the cultural landscape'Zaanstreek\\\': old polders, sleek reclaimed lands, mills, winding ditches, straight canals, well-preserved 16th and 17th century villages and lots of nature waiting to be discovered. The Zaan region is the oldest industrial area in Europe. The most important industries are wood processing and the food industry. The region is located on both sides of the Zaan and contains a maze of ditches and ditches. Directly opposite Zaandijk, you will meet De Zaanse Schans. This beautiful route takes you past historic villages such as Oostzaan and Wormer that are part of the special history of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and West India Company (WIC) and shipbuilding. You start and end at Cafe Brasserie Het Heerenhuis in Wijdewormer, which is located in the centuries-old Wijdewormer polder. A wonderful place to have lunch after your bike ride.
