Description
This route takes you for a tour along the Regte Heide. You will pass through Alphen and Riel, and you will also cycle through the vast forests along the Brabant-Belgian border.
Riel
In Riel you will pass, among other things, the St. Anthony Abbot Church. The current building dates from 1895, although the history of this church dates back to 1444. It is wonderfully quiet in this extensive border forest. You briefly cross the border with Belgium, then cycle through the fields to Alphen.
Bels Lijntje
Alphen, in this village you can see, among other things, the Sint-Willibrordus Church. The tower dates from the sixteenth century, the rest of the church was rebuilt in 1910. From junction 12 you drive a few kilometers on the Bels Lijntje, a former railway route between Turnhout and Tilburg. This leafy path is wonderful for cycling, through the trees you have beautiful views over the meadows.
