Relax on Goeree-Overflakkee

Fancy a day of relaxation? Come cycling on Goeree-Overflakkee. You'll find plenty of peace and quiet in the polders. In towns like Middelharnis and Dirksland, you can take your time and admire some of the sights.

Beautiful Middelharnis
The route starts in the middle of the polders. You'll cycle along quiet lanes between fields and meadows. Get a breath of fresh air while enjoying the tranquility and the high Dutch skies. After a while, you'll pass through Middelharnis. Here you'll see, among other things, the Korenbloem, a windmill dating back to 1705. At the harbor, you'll see even more beautiful buildings.

Swallows of Goeree
Along the banks of the Vlieger, you'll enjoy the rippling water, reed beds, and beautiful vistas. In Nieuwe-Tonge, you'll pass D'Oranjeboom, a polder mill dating from 1768. Then, cycle to the charming village of Dirksland. A little later, just before Herkingen, you'll pass De Dankbaarheid, a polder mill dating from 1841. The final section of the route passes the Slikken van Flakkee, an unspoiled nature reserve.
