Straight through the Strabrechtse Heide

This beautiful cycling route leads you right through the Strabrechtse Heide. More than three hundred sheep graze on the vast heathland, with a bit of luck you will encounter the shepherd and his flock close to the path. You pass Heeze Castle, one of the most beautiful national monuments in the Netherlands. The castle is completely moated, over the centuries the predominantly eighteenth-century interior has remained intact. Just past the beautiful village of Sterksel you drive through the rectangular woodland plots and newly constructed heathland of the Somerense Heide. Den Evert is a former ban mill of Postel Abbey. Originally dating back to 1543, it was moved to its current location in 1978. After getting off you are welcome for a meal at De Hoijse Hoeve: a culinary attraction hidden among the greenery.
