Fortified towns and castles in the Bommelerwaard

There is a lot to see and experience on this tour. It is wonderful to relax along the Afgedamde Maas while you look out over the meadows and characteristic farms. In the Bommelerwaard you will pass a number of fortresses and beautiful locations, such as the Groenhoven Estate in Bruchem and of course Zaltbommel. At Brakel you cross the Waal, further on you drive past Fort Vuren and through the historic heart of Gorinchem and through the beautiful old fortified town of Woudrichem. Back in the Bommelerwaard you will pass the beautiful, centuries-old Loevestein Castle. In the museum you will learn everything about Hugo de Groot's epic escape. You cycle over the dike along the Afgedamde Maas back to Bed and Breakfast Oan d\\\'n Kikkerdijk.
