Discover Veenendaal and the rolling forests

Just outside Veenendaal you cycle along the Bennekomse Meent. This nature reserve consists of species-rich grasslands that grow on moist peat soil. These so-called blue grasslands used to be common, but are now a rarity in the Netherlands. Further on you cycle through the rolling forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is nice and fresh and quiet between the trees. What more could you want? The last part of the route you cycle through the Gelderse Vallei. Near junction 99 you pass a remnant of the eighteenth-century Linie van de Juffrouwwijk. The bunker that played a role in the Pantherstellung is clearly visible: the Grebbelinie, re-established by the occupier. In Veenendaal you will pass the beautiful Sint-Salvatorkerk from 1566. You get off at Bike Totaal Van Wijk Fietsen.
