Description

This cycling route begins just outside Nuth. A remarkable building in Oirsbeek is the Schepenbank (Court of Justice), opposite the church. Several members of the Bokkenrijders (Bock Riders) were sentenced to death here. From junction 74, you cycle onto the Brunssummerheide. This heathland is man-made. You wouldn't guess it, but the area around the visitor center was built on a former landfill. You cycle through a hilly area where a flock of Schoonbeek sheep lives. You'll also come across the sheepfold of this flock. Hoesbroek Castle is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. The oldest part of the castle dates from around 1360. In the 14th, 17th, and 18th centuries, the castle was extensively renovated and expanded. The different architectural styles are clearly visible. Stop off at Gasterie Hedelfinger in Bingelrade!
