Description

This cycle route starts just outside Nuth. A remarkable building in Oirsbeek is the Schepenbank, opposite the church. Several members of the Bokkenrijders were sentenced to death here. From junction 74 you cycle onto the Brunssummerheide. This heathland was created by people. You wouldn't say it, but the area around the visitor centre was built on a former landfill. You cycle through a hilly area where a flock of Schoonbeek sheep lives. You will also come across the sheepfold of this flock. Hoesbroek Castle is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. The oldest part of the castle dates from around 1360. In the 14th, 17th and 18th centuries the castle was extensively renovated and expanded. The different architectural styles are clearly visible. Take a break at Gasterie Hedelfinger in Bingelrade!
